Land Rovers team BAR Sir Ben Ainslie Racing are now significantly closer to winning the Americas cup for Britain after their victory on home waters in Portsmouth over the weekend.

Hundreds showed support for the team at Portsmouth including Royalty with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge there. The Americas cup is  the oldest sporting trophy and team BAR supported by Land Rover hope to bring it home for the first time in the 165 year history. The results from the last weekend have given the team a great boost and raised the confidence, hopes and chances of being able to bring the trophy home to Britain.

“Land Rover BAR started the weekend tied in second place with current America’s Cup defenders Oracle Team USA. Two days of action packed racing on the Solent saw Land Rover BAR do the Portsmouth double and emerge as overall winners for a second time following their victory in July 2015. The result leaves their American rivals in third and take the lead on current leaders Emirates Team New Zealand to 367 points with two races to go.” A truly great result and some fantastic action for the spectators.

With it being one of the hottest weekends of the year so far. Britain were able to finally enjoy the sunshine which made for excellent conditions for the sailors and crowds.

With over one hundred people being a part of the team with them back at base doing engineering and working on projects for the future constantly developing the boats and helping the team. The success of the team really helps those working behind the scenes seeing the results of their labour.

Land Rover are proud of the team and looking forward to seeing the results of the team and helping them to complete with the trophy.
