The spy shots have been captured showing the Jaguar F-Type sports car running with a 2.0 litre diesel engine. Although it can not be seen from the outside, the number plates of the car were checked against an online database which showed the model was running under diesel power. Rumours have been circling from April that Jaguar have begun working on a diesel F-Type, and this is believed to be the first outing of the car, spotted near Lemmington Spa, close to Jaguar’s headquarters in Coventry with chief engineer, Mike Cross in the driver’s seat. Cancelling any reports of the project being shelved
On top of the new diesel unit, the F-Type is expected to be available with a new four-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine, capable of pushing out over 300bhp. We are expecting to see the facelifted F-Type late in 2017 with the new choice of engines, and entry level models look set to directly target the £40,000 Porsche 718 Boxster. JLR are keeping things close to their chests, with a spokesman saying the following, “We do not discuss out future product plans. However, we have said we are expanding our product ranges. As a result there are many Jaguar and Land Rover development vehicles and technologies being tested at any one time. We have nothing further to add at this stage or desire to comment on the speculation with regard to future potential models.”
